Stefanie Haining

Stefanie Haining's ceramic sculpture begins with a simple obsession: the objects people keep. Since childhood she has collected plastic souvenir snow globes — objects with no utilitarian function, existing purely to hold a memory or stand in for a place. That quality, an object as pure meaning, is at the center of her practice. Working entirely by hand, she reconstructs familiar forms in clay, covering their surfaces with meticulously hand-illustrated scenes in vivid color.

What appears to be one material reveals itself, on closer inspection, to be entirely ceramic. A graduate of RISD in illustration and furniture design, her work moves fluidly between sculpture, craft, and functional object — driven by the conviction that joy is the most direct entry point into questions about identity, memory, and what we choose to keep.
