Gabriella Picone’s ornaments reimagine familiar folk symbols as a family of small guardian figures. Handmade in the Southern Italian tradition of cartapesta, each one-of-a-kind ornament is formed from recycled paper pulp, hand-painted with a distinct expression, and finished with gold and silver leaf. The ornaments are rooted in Sicilian and Mediterranean folklore, the series feels whimsical and delightfully eccentric.
