High-Kitsch Pornament by Rafael Santiago brings queer desires to the traditional holiday bauble. Sections of the gilded papier-mâché surface are collaged with leather adornments, text, and other fragments drawn from vintage gay erotica magazines of the 1970s and ’80s, interspersed with floral forms. Blurring decoration and erotic archive, the work brings the queer gaze to the Christmas tree.
