What started Ian Zhang's inside joke about being a “corn boy” after a year-long stint in Indiana, turned into an ongoing material experiment. Using a vintage cast iron corn-bread mold, the project explores casting different materials into corn-shaped forms and figuring out what they might become afterward. Part homage, part misuse of industrial tooling, the series playfully reimagines existing molds and manufacturing processes in unexpected contexts.
